FAQ about 1-1 coaching sessions

What guarantee do I have the 1-1 sessions will work?

For coaching to have the opportunity to work you will need both to be honest with your coach and committed to putting your plans into action. That said, coaching does not suit everyone so I offer a free consultation so you can decide if coaching is what you are looking for and if I am the right coach for you. If you choose to work with me and then decide it is not right for you I will refund your first session fee.

How long is a 1-1 session?

Sessions are usually 60 minutes though occasionally we may agree to extend this slightly if the topic requires this. There is also the opportunity of email contact between sessions.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on what you wish to cover and how motivated you are outside the sessions. Usually the Career Coaching programme is between 12 and 14 sessions. For Creative Life Coaching for Mothers and Career Coaching Plus we can discuss the number of sessions during the consultation call – a good guide would be to allow at least 3 months and then review.

How frequent are the sessions?

I usually work with people weekly or fortnightly though if your circumstances mean you would prefer this to be different I am happy to look at this with you.

How much time would I need to do my ‘homework’?

Investing time to reflect on your coaching and put plans into action can make a huge difference to the value you get from the coaching. Depending on what you are working on this may not take additional time, it may be more about how you approach things. For those working through the Firework Process there will be exercises to complete and how you build this into your life can be worked out during our first conversation.

How much will it cost?

Career Coaching – £65 per session.
Career Coaching Plus – £65 per session.

Creative Life Coaching – I offer a sliding scale from £50 – £65 per session.
The above fees include all materials and email support between sessions if required.

Where are you?

I am based in the South Hams, Devon and am local to Totnes, Dartington and Ashburton. Newton Abbot is the biggest town nearby and Exeter and Plymouth are the two nearest cities. However most of the coaching I do is by phone or by zoom.

How can I get coaching from you if I am not in Devon?

Most of the coaching I do is by phone or Zoom so location is not a problem. Contact me for a free consultation session to try this way of working.

Is all your coaching by phone or Zoom?

Most people prefer to work with me by phone or  Zoom when they have tried this way of working because it can be time efficient and highly effective. However if you live in South Devon and would like to work face-to-face this may be possible so do contact me and we can discuss this.

Why do phone or Zoom coaching?

Phone or Zoom coaching saves you time and money travelling, and enables you to be coached in a place that is comfortable and convenient to you. It also means you are not restricted by location but can choose the coach you want to work with. If you are not familiar with being coached by phone or Zoom I offer a free no obligation consultation session so you can see how this could work for you so do get in touch and we can arrange a mutually convenient time to talk.

How do I refer people to you?

A great deal of my clients come from referrals and this works really well for all us. New clients are great for me, I love doing my job and seeing people make changes and, if you are looking for a coach, you like to know you are going to have someone you can trust. If you’d like to refer someone to me simply direct them to the contact me section of the website and ask them to mention your name when completing the form.

What is the difference between counselling and coaching?

There are many different approaches to therapy and counselling and the same can be said for life coaching and career coaching. My focus as a coach is your future and how you can make the changes you wish, express your unique qualities and be more authentically yourself. At times you may identify blocks and sabotaging patterns and together we will create exercises so you can try out new ways of being and doing things. Occasionally people will want to explore a difficulty in more depth and break for a period of counselling before returning ready to continue the coaching. Others decide that they need to undertake counselling first before a coaching programme.
